Protest Surveillance Excerpts

Virgina Capitol Protest

July 4, 2020

On July 4, 2020, a Second Amendment rally organized by the Boogaloo Bois was held at the Virginia State Capitol. Also present were armed white nationalists and armed black protesters who were members of BLM 757. All three groups joined to sing a rendition of “America The Beautiful.” When white nationalists called for a “peaceful Balkanization” of the USA, the Boogaloo Bois and the black protesters joined together to chant “White supremacy sucks! White supremacy sucks!”

January 6, 2021

On January 6, 2021, the US Capitol Building in Washington DC was attacked by an angry mob of Trump supporters who sought to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election by disrupting the Congressional count of electoral votes. Although Boogaloo Bois tend to be opposed to Donald Trump, one Boogaloo Boi reported that several groups under his command helped to storm the Capitol, seeing the protest as an opportunity to strike against the federal government.
